13 going on 40

Welcome to my new blog!  I'm so excited to start this personal extension of Wisdom Educational Ministries for my friends and followers.  In 13 short months I am going to turn 40, and I want to be intentional about what this year will hold.  I believe that every birthday we can celebrate is a gift - we're here and alive to enjoy it!  So, rather than look anxiously toward 40, I plan to look expectantly toward it.
My friend Scott (who has his own blog at http://scottdoes.blogspot.com/) inspired me to start running last year.  Now he has inspired me again - Scott is turning 40 this year and put together a list called 40x40.  He wanted to accomplish 40 athletic events before he turned 40.  (At last update he was at 32!)  I decided I'd take on a similar challenge - but it wouldn't be focused on athletics.
Instead, I decided to make a list of things I wanted to accomplish or experience before I turn 40 in September 2011.  I'll be posting that list soon, and I'm also open to ideas!  I'd also love to challenge any other friends to join me - regardless of whether they are my age or not - in seeing what the next 13 months can bring.  Then I look forward to celebrating together!
So, send me your ideas, subscribe to my feed, and join me on my journey of "13 going on 40."  I look forward to hearing from you.

  1. Fantastic IDEA!!!! You will do GREAT!!! I think one of the 40 should be athletic, and that's the 1/2 marathon (Berry 1/2, right?).

I'll give you two more that I just thought of off the top of my head:
    1) Hike to the top of the highest peak in Georgia and all of its border States (NC, SC, Alabama, Florida (that one should be easy), and TN.
    2) Make number 40 throwing yourself the most awesome 40th birthday shindig EVER!!!! It'll be tough, as mine should be awesome in a couple o' months.
    More to come.

  3. Scott - I'm so ahead of you on this part. I have several athletic feats on my list, and yes, including the Berry Half! AND - I am also already working on a big 40th celebration - because not only will I turn 40 in September, but John turns 40 next August, and we will celebrate 15 years of marriage in November! So, a big celebration is definitely on the list. Keep the ideas coming!

  9. I'm looking for other 40 something bloggers...or someone near my age to create a blogging community with...there are SO many blogs.

I'm soon turning 40 and a lot of the bloggers I know are much younger...just want some bloggers closer to my age & understanding...make comments on their blogs and have them visit mine.

I found you on someone else's blogroll & here I am...Not really doing a list to finish before 40...but just making an effort to list every little nook-crannie that makes me happy in a day indefintiely. Whether it's something big or small. some things are short stories. If it makes me smile or laugh, I blog about it...
Feel free to visit/comment/subscribe & I look forward to your posts!
